Spanish regional businesses expand international trade presence
Spanish regional authorities are reporting significant progress in supporting business internationalization. The Community of Madrid has assisted over 7,300 SMEs, freelancers, and entrepreneurs through its Internationalization One-Stop Shop (VUI). Established in 2019 in collaboration with the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, the VUI provides free information and guidance. By June 2026, the service has deployed 3,165 support actions, including 2,887 personalized consultations and participation in 66 international fairs.
Simultaneously, the Region of Murcia has become the fourth-largest Spanish exporter to the African continent. Between January and May, regional exports to Africa reached 610.86 million euros, representing a 7.58% increase compared to the previous year. Morocco remains the primary destination for Murcian products, with 372.25 million euros in exports, followed by Algeria. A total of 869 companies from the region currently export to Africa, primarily selling fuels, lubricants, live animals, fats, oils, and chemical products.
