Regional Spanish festivals highlight artisanal cheese and honey

Various regional festivals across Spain are highlighting local gastronomy and rural culture through specialized fairs.

In Ayora, the 25th anniversary of ‘El Primer Corte de la Miel’ will take place from October 8 to 12, featuring live honey extraction demonstrations and local culinary tastings. In Tomares, the ‘Quesarte’ artisanal cheese fair will run from October 2 to 4, showcasing over 25 exhibitors including international products and local dairy specialties.

Asturias will host ‘El Quesu y la miel’ throughout October in Cangas de Onís, featuring cheese competitions and honey fairs. Meanwhile, the Seu d’Urgell Fira de Sant Ermengol will host the Pyrenean Artisanal Cheese Fair from October 16 to 18, featuring 47 producers from Catalonia, the Basque Country, France, and Aragon.

Other initiatives include the Cambrils Wine and Gastronomy Festival, which will feature the Bearn region of France as a guest, and the ‘Benvinguts a Pagès’ event in the Ebro region, which opens farms to the public to promote the primary sector.
