Spanish regional parliaments reject multiple investigation commissions
In Andalusia, the regional Parliament rejected a Socialist-led proposal to establish an investigation commission regarding the 2026 forest fires. The initiative, supported by Adelante Andalucía and Por Andalucía, aimed to examine fire prevention, emergency management, and the Infoca device. The fires in Los Gallardos (Almería) resulted in 15 deaths. The PP and Vox parties voted against the measure, arguing that the government has already undergone parliamentary control.
Separately, the Andalusian Parliament also blocked an investigation into breast cancer screening management. The rejected proposal sought to clarify communication failures that affected 2,317 women. While the PSOE called for compensation for affected patients, Vox and the regional government criticized the move as political posturing.
In Madrid, the PP party vetoed a PSOE-requested commission to investigate the management and recovery of loans granted to Madrid Network. The association received an 80 million euro public loan in 2011, which has since left a deficit of over 70 million euros.
