Spanish regional parties demand accountability over wildfire response

Vox spokesperson José María Llanos said political hearings on the Vall d'Uixó wildfire in the Valencian Community must wait until the fire is controlled, urging all efforts to focus on extinguishing the blaze. He rejected claims of budget cuts for fire prevention, highlighting measures such as forest owner assistance and firebreak creation.

In the Basque Country, EH Bildu announced it will question Diputado General Ramiro González in the first plenary session about the failure to dispatch Araba firefighters to wildfires affecting Madrid, Toledo and Ávila. The party criticised the alleged lack of staff and absence of a protocol for emergency assistance, stating that “hiding the truth does not make the problem disappear.” Both parties are calling for political explanations regarding the handling of recent forest fires across Spain.
