Spanish regions deploy new mobile and proximity recycling points

In the province of Palencia, the Junta de Castilla y León handed over five mobile clean‑point units, two electric collection trucks and four charging stations, an investment of €328,000. The mobile facilities will travel to smaller municipalities, allowing citizens to dispose of up to 22 waste types, including hazardous household items, textiles and electronic devices. The rollout is part of a regional expansion funded by the Next Generation EU recovery plan.

The Mancomunidad Vega del Henares approved the operation of eight new proximity clean‑point sites in Alovera, Azuqueca de Henares, Cabanillas de Campo, Quer, Marchamalo and Villanueva de la Torre. Management, collection and transport will be handled by the existing waste‑collection contractor, with an annual cost of €11,598 and a contract amendment worth €101,483. This initiative is also financed through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience plan and aims to improve recycling rates and curb litter in public spaces.
