Spanish Regions Fund Local Digitalization and Rural Road Projects

The Consell de Mallorca approved a €1.2 million grant programme for the digitalisation and cyber‑security of its 46 municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants and the small local entity of Palmanyola. Each municipality will receive a fixed €24,400, while five inter‑municipal associations will get €18,840. The funding is split between €680,000 for current expenses such as electronic filing systems and cloud storage, and €561,000 for investment items like new computers, video recording of council meetings and upgraded data cabling.

In the Valencian Community, the regional government announced that its rural‑road assistance programme for 2026 lacks sufficient funds. Out of 197 municipalities that applied, only 50 will receive subsidies, leaving 147—including the town of Vilafamés—without support. The shortfall stems from the budget being exhausted before all requests could be financed. Local officials stress that improved rural roads are essential for forest‑fire prevention, emergency‑service access, and agricultural activity.
