Spanish regions overhaul public‑sector staffing and compensate interim workers

The Xunta de Galicia has activated a protocol to manage the largest staff reshuffle in its history, affecting about 3,200 civil servants – roughly 12 % of its workforce. Outgoing employees may remain for up to three days, and in some cases up to 20 days, to train their replacements and maintain critical services.

In the Valencian Community, the Generalitat has approved indemnizations exceeding €300,000 for interim employees who lost their posts after stabilization processes. Payments are granted under the Iceta law to interims who meet strict criteria, including a minimum period of temporary status and proof of abuse of temporality.
