Spanish Registrars Offer Free Property Documents to Wildfire Victims

The Colegio de Registradores de España has decided to provide the "nota simple de dominio" – the official property description document – free of charge to people whose homes or lands have been affected by the recent wildfires across the country. Affected owners can request the document through the new Emergency Registral Portal (https://geoportal.registradores.org/emergency), which gives a comprehensive view of the fire‑related damage and lets residents quickly verify whether their property has been impacted.

The service aims to support victims in managing compensation claims and accessing aid from authorities. By the latest count, nine major forest fires have burned roughly 61,793 hectares, with 5,072 registered farms and 1,095 buildings geolocated as affected, especially in the provinces of Ávila and Madrid. The fires have also forced the closure of about 37 secondary roads in the affected regions, prompting the traffic authority to advise avoiding unnecessary travel.

The free‑access initiative is intended to help property owners exercise their legal rights and obtain reliable registry information swiftly during the emergency response.
