Spanish sailors achieve success in international regattas

Spanish sailors achieved notable results in recent international regattas. In the ILCA 7 World Championship held in Dublin, Ireland, Leo Barreto finished 49th overall and second in the Silver Group. Barreto noted that early errors prevented him from entering the Gold Group and expressed hope that the Spanish Federation will consider his strong national performance when deciding his continuity in the Olympic team.

In the San Pedro Olympic Classes Regatta held at the Port of Los Angeles—the future venue for the 2028 Olympic sailing events—María Cantero and Paula Barceló secured second place in the 49erFX class. The duo finished behind Sweden’s Vilma Bobeck and Ebba Berntsson, with the British team taking third. The competition provided the Spanish crew with critical experience in the waters that will host the upcoming Olympic Games.
