Spanish sailors secure world championship titles in Denmark

Spanish sailors achieved significant success at recent international sailing championships held in Denmark.

Nikko Palou Espinar, a 16-year-old from Real Club Náutico de Palma, became the U-17 world champion and the overall runner-up in the ILCA 6 class at the championships in Aarhus. Competing against 307 boats, Palou finished second in the general classification behind Brazil’s Erik Scheidt, while securing the top spot for the under-17 category.

In the J70 mixed world championship held in Skovshoved, the crew of the boat ‘Yupi’ secured victory for the second consecutive year. The winning team included Gerardo Prego, Fátima Diz, and Pilar Amarose from the Real Club Náutico de Vigo, helmed by Joan Cardona. The crew finished with 47 net points, leading a fleet of 38 boats representing thirteen countries.
