Spanish soldiers evacuated to Madrid after attacks in Ceuta
Two Spanish soldiers deployed in Ceuta have been evacuated to the Gómez Ulla Central Defense Hospital in Madrid following aggressions by migrants. The Ministry of Defense has not specified the exact extent of the injuries or the exact timing of the attacks.
Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles visited the soldiers at the hospital to check on their condition. The Ministry expressed full support for the personnel, describing them as “always professional, close, and involved with Ceuta.”
This incident is part of a broader period of tension following the arrival of migrants to the autonomous city in late July. Reports indicate that the total number of military personnel injured during this crisis includes five individuals with “considerable injuries” and several others with minor wounds. Professional associations have called on the government to authorize the use of “proportionate force” to address what they describe as a situation of “lack of protection” for the troops.
