Spain economy shows growth in startups, investment, and stock markets
Spain is experiencing diverse economic shifts characterized by growing startup maturity, increased foreign investment, and notable stock market performance for new listings. The Spanish startup ecosystem has reached an estimated value of 125 billion euros, featuring over 5,000 startups and 17 unicorns. Significant funding rounds include Multiverse Computing’s 500 million euro Series C and PLD Space’s expansion of its Series C to 288 million euros.
On the investment front, Spanish gross foreign investment rose 13.2% in the first half of 2026, reaching 13.232 billion euros. The United States and the United Kingdom remain the primary destinations for this capital, driven largely by large industrial, financial, and energy groups.
In the stock market, newly listed companies such as the Asturian engineering firm TSK and the Basque industrial group Arteche have seen significant gains, with both rising over 20% in September and exceeding 43% growth for the year. TSK’s surge is supported by a 16-fold increase in first-half profits compared to the previous year.
