A woman of Romanian nationality has been sentenced to four years in prison by the Audiencia de Gipuzkoa for defrauding an 80-year-old widower of nearly 400,000 euros through a fictitious romantic relationship. The victim, a resident of San Sebastián, met the defendant in Brussels. The court found that she exploited his loneliness and age to manipulate him into purchasing a home in Dénia and making several large bank transfers under the guise of needing funds for her family in Romania.
