Spanish Supreme Court orders government to identify Next Generation EU fund beneficiaries
The Spanish Supreme Court has ordered the central government to provide the full identities, including names and national ID numbers (DNI), of the final beneficiaries of Next Generation EU funds. The ruling, issued by the Administrative Litigation Chamber, grants the government a ten-day deadline to comply.
The order follows a legal challenge by Senator Eva Ortiz of the People's Party (PP), who argued that the government had previously provided incomplete information by anonymizing the identities of all natural persons receiving aid. According to legal filings, approximately 30,738 records—representing 39.2% of the list and all individual recipients—were delivered without identifying details.
The court noted that the government failed to provide legal justifications for the anonymization during the litigation. This judicial requirement comes ahead of the general elections scheduled for November 29, meaning the complete list must be delivered during the electoral campaign.
