The Spanish Supreme Court has rejected an urgent request by the People's Party (PP) to force government ministers to appear before the Senate regarding the migratory crisis in Ceuta. The court ruled that the PP failed to demonstrate the 'special urgency' required to bypass the standard legal process and deny the government a prior hearing. Instead, the court has ordered the matter to proceed through ordinary channels, granting the State Attorney's Office ten days to present arguments.

This judicial decision follows intense political tension over the government's handling of the influx of migrants in Ceuta. While the PP sought immediate parliamentary oversight, the government has instead scheduled a series of appearances for eight ministers in the Congress of Deputies, starting with Defense Minister Margarita Robles on August 25.

Amidst these institutional disputes, the government is also preparing to tackle the 2027 General State Budgets following several years without new accounts. President Pedro Sánchez returns from a lengthy summer break as the administration faces pressure to address both the humanitarian situation in Ceuta and the legislative challenge of passing new public accounts.
