Spanish towns boost beach accessibility and safety, earning new quality flags

The municipality of La Pobla de Farnals renewed its Qualitur beach flag, recognising the quality, safety, environmental protection and accessibility of its shores. New adaptive equipment such as amphibious decks, special chairs and transport carts were installed, and a assisted‑bathing platform is expected in July, complemented by ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and UNE accessibility certifications.

In Motril, the summer season opened with a historic expansion of lifeguard services, increasing the operational period to 84 days and adding six extra staff members. Four new assisted‑bathing stations and a range of adaptive equipment for people with reduced mobility were deployed. Over €5 million was invested in safety gear, infrastructure upgrades, new green spaces and the recovery of the Blue Flag for Poniente beach after 38 years, reflecting improved environmental quality and visitor services.
