Spanish towns celebrate local bread-making traditions

Local traditions and the baking profession are being celebrated in different regions of Spain through dedicated events and tributes.

In Alcalá de Guadaíra, local officials and representatives from ONCE gathered for the presentation of a special lottery coupon dedicated to the emblematic ‘Pan de Alcalá’. The event served as a recognition of the history and labor of local bakers who have shaped the identity of the area. Political representatives emphasized the importance of honoring the generations of workers who have maintained the town's productive fabric and culinary legacy.

In O Porriño, the ‘Feira do Pan’ (Bread Fair) was held to promote the town's traditional bread, a craft with documented roots dating back to 1600. The festival included culinary demonstrations, tastings, and educational workshops such as ‘Peque Pan’ for children, designed to teach the importance of the baking trade. The event, supported by the Galician Agency for Food Quality (Agacal), aimed to reinforce local gastronomic heritage and boost regional tourism.
