Spanish towns compete for Best Film Village award
The first edition of the Pueblos de Película Awards is underway, featuring 25 Spanish municipalities competing for the title of ‘Best Film Village’. The awards, driven by the Red de Pueblos de Película, aim to recognize towns that leverage their audiovisual heritage to promote tourism, culture, and regional development.
In Andalusia, Tabernas, Alfarnatejo, and Monachil are among the representatives. Tabernas, famous for its desert landscapes used in films such as ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ and ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’, is a prominent candidate. In Aragon, the municipalities of Bielsa and Loarre are competing. Bielsa is noted for its natural settings used in productions like ‘Bajo la piel de lobo’, while Loarre is recognized for its castle, which served as a major setting for Ridley Scott’s ‘Kingdom of Heaven’.
The winner will be determined by popular vote, with voting open until October 25. The results will be announced on November 13 during a ceremony in Valladolid.
