Spanish towns host summer folk music festivals and concerts
On July 29, the Plaza de la Constitución in Torrox (Spain) will host the Encuentro de Zambombas, a night dedicated to traditional folklore featuring groups from Torrox, Arenas and Cómpeta. The event is organized by the Torrox Town Council’s Traditions Popular department and the Asociación de Mujeres Almedina, with councilor Salvador Escudero emphasizing its role in preserving local intangible heritage.
Later that week, on July 31, the Casa de Los Toruños in El Puerto will hold a new edition of the Festival Canto Joven, offering twelve young singers (ages 12‑35) a non‑competitive stage after two months of vocal training by coach Alicia Castro. The festival, run by the municipal Youth Council with support from the Junta de Andalucía, also welcomes participants with disabilities.
On October 24, the open‑air Teatro de la Axerquía in Córdoba will present the IV Gala Tributos y Amigos with ANFANE, a tribute night featuring acts such as On Five, Raúl Ogalla and The Elegance Duet. Tickets cost between 20 and 25 euros.
In Chile, the Club Chocolate in Santiago will stage “Volver a la Ley: Sesiones 88/90” on August 27, reuniting original members of the early lineup of La Ley—Rodrigo “Coti” Aboitiz, Luciano Rojas and Shía Arbulú—and using archival footage of Andrés Bobe and Beto Cuevas to celebrate the band’s first recordings.
