Spanish towns launch dual‑training workshop and free preschool for residents

Mayor José Manuel López Varela and regional delegate Belén do Campo visited the Dual Employment Workshop A Laracha X in La Coruña province. The nine‑month programme, funded with €673,000, offers theoretical and practical training to 20 unemployed residents in garden maintenance and carpentry, includes a stipend and leads to a professional certificate. Participants will carry out public‑works projects such as bridge renewal and park improvements throughout the municipality.

In Las Regueras, Asturias, education counselor Eva Ledo and mayor Maribel Méndez opened the free preschool “La Piedriquina”. Housed in former school buildings, the centre can accommodate 18 children and currently serves seven infants with full‑day care and meals. The project was built with a €90,000 regional grant and additional municipal funding totaling €156,000, providing specialised rooms, storage and a multifunctional area.
