Spanish towns launch new family‑support initiatives for parents and children

The Alcoy City Council in Spain will open a new cohort of the free "Entender al bebé" programme on 8 September at the Centre Social Zona Nord. The fourteen‑session course, aimed at pregnant women and their partners, covers infant brain development, emotional changes during pregnancy, breastfeeding and early‑year parenting to promote secure attachment. Councilor Aroa Mira said the programme “allows us to accompany future mothers and fathers at a vital moment, providing essential tools for physical and emotional self‑care.”

In the town of Marchamalo, the municipal government is offering more than 300 summer places for families with children under 16. The summer conciliation space provides morning childcare for working parents, while two sports camps – a multisport programme and a football‑training camp – run at local sports complexes. Prices range from €55 to €58 per week, and several spots remain available throughout July.
