Spanish towns launch summer camps for children

Leganés mayor Miguel Ángel Recuenco inaugurated the Summer Camp 2026, a municipal programme that provides safe educational and recreational activities for dozens of children during the school holidays. Organized with the nonprofit CEMU, the mayor said the camps “help families reconcile work and childcare, maintain routine, and let children enjoy the summer.”

In the neighbouring municipality of Amoeiro, the council opened registration for its summer camp that will run from 1 July to 31 August for children aged 3‑15. Registration closes on 29 June, with a fee of €50 per month (€25 per fortnight) and spots allocated on a first‑come basis. Activities include cooperative games, swimming sessions and creative drawing workshops.
