Spanish towns launch summer youth camps for children

The municipality of Cheste in the province of Valencia organized a week‑long Summer Youth Camp from 29 June to 3 July at the Centro de Vacaciones Animación y Aventura in Los Alcázares, Murcia. The program hosted 38 children aged 9‑13 and featured water‑based sports such as kayak, paddle‑surf, windsurf and giant surf, as well as team games and a limited daily use of mobile phones to promote outdoor interaction. Youth councillor Óscar Galdón highlighted the camp’s aim to foster autonomy, teamwork and healthy, screen‑free leisure.

In Ourense, the youth association Amencer ran the 21st edition of its "Mañás de Verán" summer camp, beginning on 22 June at the Colegio Plurilingüe María Auxiliadora Salesianos. The paid camp, costing €65 per week for non‑members (with discounts for members and financial aid options), provides activities ranging from water games to Olympic‑style events and includes early‑morning supervision and a lunch service. The programme targets children from preschool to the second year of secondary school and seeks to relieve families’ summer childcare challenges.
