Spanish towns of La Bañeza and Plasencia celebrate summer markets

In La Bañeza, the historic Plaza Mayor has been transformed into a medieval market that runs from yesterday through tomorrow, featuring more than 60 stalls of crafts, food and traditional trades. The event, presented by mayor Javier Carrera, includes live music, street animation, falconry displays, oriental dance shows and a nightly fireworks spectacle. Organisers say the edition attracted a record number of artisan applications from across Spain.

Meanwhile, Plasencia marked the closing day of its Martes Mayor festival with the shutdown of the artisan market at 15:00. The town’s main square saw bustling terraces, a fashion parade and workshops that drew locals and tourists alike. Vendors praised the higher attendance compared with the previous year, noting the event’s importance as a nationally recognised tourist celebration.
