Spanish towns Pinto and Santa Cruz address municipal staff pay and police workload

The municipal government of Pinto and the unions CPPM, CSIF and UPM have signed an agreement that raises overtime pay for all municipal employees during major local festivals such as the Patronal Feasts, Holy Week and Carnival. The increase applies uniformly across all professional groups and adds to a prior 2024 pact that expanded staffing and resources. The agreement will take effect after approval by the town council.

In Santa Cruz, the CSIF union has criticised the 2025 annual activity report of the local police, noting that the workforce has barely changed since 2014 (310 agents then, 308 now) while duties have increased. Parking complaints are up 21.2% and traffic enforcement responsibilities remain at the same level, with the average officer age at 46.4 years. The union urges the municipality to publish future reports with separate statistics for citizen security and traffic functions.
