Spanish towns plan and hold cultural celebrations honoring King James I

In Calvià on the island of Mallorca, officials are debating the date for the selection of the "Reyes" of the annual Fiesta del Rei. The event, typically set for July 28, may be postponed to August 10 because the traditional campsite in the Santa Ponça pine forest (the "pinada") requires formal approval from the regional water and marine authority. Local "colles" (moros y cristianos groups) have warned they will not participate if the campsite is denied.

Meanwhile, in Valencia, the Biblioteca Valenciana Nicolau Primitiu hosted a concert titled "La Danza del Rey" as a tribute to King James I. The program featured historic songs and dances from the era of James I, performed in honor of the medieval monarch.

Both events reflect regional efforts to commemorate the legacy of James I through traditional festivals and cultural performances.
