Spanish towns roll out 2026 summer security programs
The municipality of Las Rozas de Madrid activated its "Vacaciones Seguras" program on 15 June 2026, extending through September. The initiative combines technical measures, increased patrols, and citizen participation, offering services such as key custody for homes and businesses, coordinated checks with the Guardia Civil, and public safety recommendations for vacant properties during the summer.
In Melilla, the Consejería de Seguridad Ciudadana launched the "Plan de Playa Segura 2026" alongside the opening of the beach season and the awarding of the Blue Flag to Los Cárabos. The plan deploys 35 lifeguards, local police, and civil protection personnel across the city’s southern beaches and Horcas Coloradas, featuring continuous patrols, rescue boats, jet skis, and medical assistance to ensure a safe and orderly bathing season.
