Spanish towns roll out classroom heritage and literature projects
The Úbeda City Council’s Education Department introduced a heritage‑focused programme for pupils in the rural schools of Donadío, Solana de Torralba and Veracruz. Using a high‑resolution replica of the Sacra Capilla del Salvador and a series of educational games, students explored Renaissance architecture and created their own artistic “chapas” as part of a learning‑by‑play approach. The municipality also donated board games worth €150 to each village to sustain the initiative.
In Almendralejo, the Ruta del Vino y Cava Ribera del Guadiana backed a teaching project titled “Hay otros mundos, pero están en este”. Developed by teachers José María Méndez and Pilar Triviño, the scheme combines a book of 175 short, fact‑based stories with illustrations, an exhibition, and an online platform offering daily classroom exercises. The project is intended to serve as an interdisciplinary resource for students and the wider public, with support from the town’s culture councilor.
