Spanish towns schedule 2026 local cooking contests

The municipality of Bolaños de Calatrava announced that its traditional Caldereta and Revientalobos competition will take place on 16 September 2026 at the local fairgrounds, coinciding with the town's Feria and Fiestas in honor of the Santísimo Cristo de la Columna. Groups of at least ten adults may register between 7 and 11 September, bring their own ingredients and equipment, and will be judged on presentation, quality and taste.

In O Castrillón, the neighbourhood association, with support from GADIS, will hold the XVII Concurso de Tortilla Española on 20 August 2026 at Pablo Iglesias Plaza. Participants may register at local bulletin boards, the civic centre or by phone, and must present a freshly made traditional Spanish tortilla for jury evaluation. The three best entries will receive a trophy and a voucher.

Both events aim to promote local culinary heritage, encourage community participation and celebrate regional traditions ahead of the 2026 festival season.
