Spanish towns upgrade rural roads and urban street access

The Burgos municipal government completed rehabilitation and maintenance of about 18 kilometres of rural roads, linking the town centre with the Cándido Aguilar and Paso Hondo districts. Mayor Marco Polo Garza Martínez said the work improves safety and mobility for families, students, workers and producers who rely on these routes.

In Oviedo, residents of Doctor Antonio Bascarán street have been demanding modern, safe access for more than two decades. They describe the current route as a poorly lit, single‑lane uphill path with stairs and no sidewalks, creating hazards especially in winter. Community leader Pedro Gómez says a meeting with the mayor a year ago produced no concrete action, and proposed improvements are stalled by unresolved land‑ownership issues. The neighbourhood also seeks better service on the city’s line M public‑transport route ahead of a new immigrant‑center opening.
