Spanish trail runners achieve success at UTMB Mont-Blanc
Spanish trail runners achieved notable results at the UTMB Mont-Blanc events. Enric Pons Mir, a runner from Menorca, is set to debut in the OCC race, a 61-kilometer event with 3,450 meters of elevation gain. Starting in Orsières, Switzerland, and finishing in Chamonix, France, Pons Mir enters the competition with a UTMB Index of 812 points, placing him among the highlighted international athletes.
In a separate event, Jan Torrella secured third place in the 15-kilometer Experience Trail Courmayeur (ETC) during the UTMB Mont-Blanc series. Torrella, representing Salomon, noted the rapid growth of national trail running and the ability of Spanish athletes to compete on international podiums. He described the race as fast-paced, highlighting his performance during the descents despite minor falls while attempting to challenge for second place.
