Spanish transport workers press for dignified collective bargaining agreement

Union federations UGT, CCOO and CIG are demanding a "dignified" collective agreement for transport workers in Spain. In León province, inter‑urban passenger‑transport drivers say the employer has rejected all proposals, offering no counter‑offer and blocking negotiations, while calling for a salary of €24, 000 a year, weekend rest, holiday and Sunday premiums, and better insurance.

In A Coruña, cargo‑road transport staff gathered at the Polígono do Tambre in Santiago de Compostela, repeating similar demands for higher wages that keep pace with inflation, updated allowances and improved working hours. They warn that the employer's 2026 offer falls below the June CPI and excludes seniority and other supplements. The unions have scheduled further protests, including a rally in Ferrol on 23 July, and note that the dispute follows a recent clash in passenger transport that ended with a pre‑agreement after several strike days.
