Spanish travel agencies face fraud investigations

Authorities in Spain are investigating travel agencies following allegations of consumer fraud. In Banyoles, the Catalan Consumer Agency has opened an inquiry into Nòmades del Món. The agency is reviewing the company's administrative status and requesting documentation to determine if legal obligations for commercializing combined travel are being met. This follows an investigation by the Mossos d'Esquadra regarding alleged scams against clients.

Separately, in Tenerife, a prosecutor has requested a six-year prison sentence for a travel agency owner accused of defrauding 26 clients of approximately 38,000 euros. The prosecution alleges the individual sold international trips, hotel stays, and flights that were never provided, often using excuses related to the pandemic or administrative errors to avoid refunds. The accused reportedly collected payments ranging from 100 to 6,500 euros via various methods before ceasing communication with victims.
