Renfe adds 21.6 million summer seats and expands youth discounts for 2026

Renfe will put 21.6 million seats on sale for travel between 1 July and 15 September 2026 across its AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed, Intercity, Avant, Media Distancia, Cercanías and Trenes Playeros services. The offer adds more than 100 000 extra seats compared with the previous year, delivering over 8.9 million seats on high‑speed and long‑distance routes. Capacity on the Avant Valladolid‑Segovia‑Madrid corridor rises by 21 percent.

The programme is tied to the government‑backed Verano Joven scheme for travellers aged 18‑30. Participants receive a 50 % discount (up to €30 per ticket) on AVE, Avlo and long‑distance services, 50 % off Avant tickets and 90 % off Media Distancia and Ancho Métrico fares, with a free trip after completing two discounted journeys. The expanded seat inventory targets the busiest corridors – Madrid to the Valencian Community, the north, Andalusia, Catalonia, as well as Málaga, Sevilla, Alicante and La Coruña – to accommodate the summer travel surge.
