Spanish unions allege persecution following worker dismissals

Labor unions in Spain are reporting instances of alleged union persecution following dismissals at major companies. In San Sebastián, the ELA union has denounced the dismissal of three workers participating in an indefinite strike at Metropolitan Donostia. The union is demanding their immediate reinstatement and the establishment of a specific collective agreement for the center.

Metropolitan Donostia faces significant financial penalties following labor inspections. The Labor Inspectorate imposed a 110,000 euro fine for violations related to the right to strike and impersonation of functions. Additionally, Kontsumobide issued a 78,000 euro sanction following complaints from approximately 500 members regarding unfulfilled services during the strike.

In Zaragoza, the OSTA union has challenged the dismissal of a union delegate at Mercadona. The union claims the termination is a retaliatory measure against their activism and a strategy to intimidate workers. OSTA has announced a series of mobilizations to protest the decision and advocate for the worker's reinstatement.
