Spanish unions demand improved workplace safety after recent accidents
Labor unions in Spain are calling for increased workplace safety and stricter prevention measures following recent industrial accidents.
In Móstoles, unions CCOO and UGT held a demonstration to protest the death of a maintenance worker who fell approximately 12 meters from a building roof on September 28. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances of the fall to determine responsibility.
Separately, in O Porriño, the CIG union has demanded reinforced health and safety protocols in the extractive sector. This follows an accident at a quarry in Atios that left four workers injured, including one in serious condition. The union emphasized the need for increased administrative oversight and control in mining and quarrying operations to mitigate high-risk conditions.
