Spanish Unions Flag Precarious Contracts in Aldeadávila de la Ribera Elder Care Homes
The trade unions CSIF, UGT and CCOO issued a joint statement denouncing the use of temporary contracts of up to 18 months for staff at the La Llanada I residential centre in Aldeadávila de la Ribera. They claim these contracts are not renewed despite ongoing service needs, leading to the hiring of inexperienced workers and forcing existing employees to cover multiple roles. The unions say the resulting workload overload harms workers’ health and reduces the quality of care for the municipality’s elderly residents. They urged the town council to revise its hiring policy, ensure continuity of trained staff and set a dignified standard of service, noting that past complaints to the council have been ignored.
