Spanish universities to launch training programs for youth with disabilities

Spanish universities have been selected to participate in the tenth edition of the UniDiversidad initiative, a program designed to provide university training for young people with intellectual disabilities, developmental disorders, and autism. The program, promoted by Fundación ONCE and co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (FSE+), will take place during the 2026/2027 academic year.

The initiative aims to improve student autonomy, humanistic knowledge, and labor market readiness, specifically focusing on skills that facilitate employment through supported work models. The goal is to position universities as agents of social inclusion by providing personalized and integral training.

Among the participants, the University of Extremadura will implement a training program, while the University of Castilla-La Mancha stands out as the only entity developing two separate training programs, located at its Ciudad Real and Albacete campuses. They are part of a group of 36 selected university projects across various Spanish regions, including Andalusia, Madrid, Catalonia, and Castilla y León.
