Spanish Villages Host Community Theatre Play and Film Premiere

In the small village of La Vídola, Salamanca, the church of Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada staged the theatre production "Juan, el espíritu del amor" written and directed by Denis Rafter. The performance was part of the Year of Saint John of the Cross celebrations and was organised by the mayor, the municipal council, the parish and the Diocese of Salamanca. Residents attended the show and gave the five actors a warm ovation.

In nearby Purísima del Rincón, the film "La hacendada y el fuereño" premiered on 1 August in the town’s main garden. The movie was produced, directed and starred by Rosendo Domínguez Macías, who said the project aims to promote regional cinema. The municipal government and the local Casa de la Cultura supported the event, which featured a romantic drama set on a fictional hacienda.

Both events illustrate how local authorities and cultural promoters are bringing professional artistic productions to small Spanish communities.
