Spanish white wines receive major industry awards

Spanish white wines have received significant recognition through major industry awards. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has named Los Altares 2016, produced by Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres, as the best white wine in Spain for 2026. This Rioja-based wine is noted for its complexity, featuring notes of honey and stone fruits, and is produced from high-altitude vineyards using traditional methods including French oak aging and extended bottle aging.

Additionally, the 42nd edition of the Vinos Gourmets Guide 2027 has released its rankings based on reader votes. Diez Siglos, located in Serrada, Valladolid, was named Winery of the Year for its work with the Verdejo variety. Other top honors include the best young white wine awarded to José Pariente Verdejo from Bodegas José Pariente, while the award for aged whites was shared by Familia Torres’ Milmanda from Conca de Barberà and Murua blanco from Rioja.
