Spanish women recognized for scientific achievements
Two Spanish women have received recognition for their contributions to science and biodiversity.
Elvia Gómez Troya, known as ‘Elvia la Rastreadora’, has been awarded the Best Junior Scientific Communicator Prize at the IV Spanish Science Awards. The award, presented by the Fundación para el Conocimiento madri+d, recognizes her work in bringing biodiversity to thousands of people through social media, talks, and books. Gómez Troya is currently preparing to move to Bernardos, in the province of Segovia.
Biologist Begoña Pineda has been honored by the Diputación de Valencia as one of twelve women serving as professional role models in the province. Pineda, a researcher from Cullera, has conducted preclinical studies involving drug combinations that show promise in treating aggressive forms of breast and ovarian cancer. Her recognition was part of the ‘Hacemos que las mujeres cuenten’ awards, which highlight women's contributions to various sectors in their local communities.
