Spanish women's basketball team holds World Cup warm-up in Tenerife

The Spanish women's national basketball team has arrived in Tenerife for a final preparatory tournament ahead of the Women's Basketball World Cup in Germany, scheduled for September 4–13 in Berlin.

As part of the ‘Volvemos a Soñar’ preparation tour, the team, led by coach Miguel Méndez, will compete in the Tenerife International Tournament from August 21 to 23 at the Santiago Martín Pavilion. Spain is set to face Belgium and Nigeria in matches designed to refine strategy and match fitness before the global competition.

The event was officially presented by Elisa Aguilar, President of the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), and Lope Afonso, Vice President of the Cabildo. Aguilar noted the symbolic importance of the location, recalling that Tenerife hosted the 2018 World Cup where the team secured a bronze medal. The tournament also reinforces a partnership between Turismo Tenerife and the FEB, positioning the island as an official tourism destination for the federation.
