Spanish youth with disabilities demand rights in Valladolid congress
More than 120 young people from across Spain gathered in Valladolid for the II State Congress of Youth with Disabilities. Organized by CERMI Estatal, the ONCE Foundation, and CERMI Castilla y León, the event focused on the right to build independent lives.
Participants developed proposals to address barriers in employment, housing, technology, political participation, and social life. Key discussions included the compatibility of working while receiving social benefits and the need for better disability awareness training within human resources departments. Additionally, attendees highlighted the lack of representation in decision-making roles and proposed creating dedicated spaces for youth with disabilities to share needs and influence policy.
