SPAR franchise in Strzelce Opolskie closes abruptly, leaving staff unpaid

A SPAR franchise store located on Wojska Polskiego Street in Strzelce Opolskie has unexpectedly ceased operations, leaving employees without their August wages. The outlet, which had been operating since 2022, was a popular local spot, particularly on non-trading Sundays.

The store was managed by a private company, Dileto, which operated the location as a franchise. Employees reported that the closure was sudden and that they had received termination notices while still awaiting unpaid salaries. One employee noted that despite receiving assurances of stability in July, the business faced financial issues that resulted in partial payments in August and total non-payment for the final month.

A representative for Dileto stated that the decision to liquidate the point was driven by financial reasons and promised that all wages would be paid to employees immediately, though no specific timeline was provided. Local reports suggest a dispute regarding unpaid rent amounting to 70,000 PLN may also be involved. Affected staff intend to report the matter to the State Labour Inspection.
