SPAR opens new convenience store at Swansea University

A longstanding Costcutter convenience store at Swansea University’s Singleton Park Campus has been replaced by a new SPAR. The transition follows a competitive tender process led by the Swansea University Students’ Union, which selected the brand for its international recognition and ability to provide a tailored convenience solution for a campus environment.

The project involved a full refit through a partnership between AF Blakemore, the Students’ Union, and Swansea University. Key upgrades include expanded refrigeration, digital screens, an improved layout, and the installation of electronic shelf edge labels to improve pricing accuracy.

The new store offers a range of products designed for student life, such as revamped meal deals, Philpotts sandwiches, and Iceland frozen goods. While primarily serving the student body, the shop is also open to NHS staff, local residents, and visitors to the nearby seafront. The existing store team remains in place under manager Emma Snaydon.
