Tieto technical issues disrupt Vipps and Sparebank 1 services

Technical issues at the infrastructure provider Tieto have caused service disruptions for Sparebank 1 customers and Vipps users in Norway on Monday.

The problems specifically affect peer-to-peer payments (vennebetaling) for certain banks, including Sparebank 1. While users may experience delays or find it impossible to complete these specific transactions, Vipps communication manager Kari Kjær noted that card payments and contactless ‘tap’ functions remain operational.

Tieto confirmed a technical error in its infrastructure affecting multiple banks, though the full list of impacted institutions has not been finalized. Sparebank 1 has acknowledged the issues and stated that they are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
