Sparkasse to phase out S-ID-Check app for online payments

Sparkasse is transitioning its online payment authentication process from the S-ID-Check app to the S-pushTAN app. The S-ID-Check app will be discontinued by January 31, 2027, and new registrations for the service have been unavailable since mid-January 2026.

Customers using Sparkassen-Credit cards, Sparkassen-Cards (debit cards), or Sparkassen-Karte Basis for online shopping must migrate to the S-pushTAN app to continue using the 3-D Secure authentication required for online transactions. Those who already use pushTAN for online banking can facilitate the transition through the app's built-in assistant.

For customers who do not use online banking, an alternative exists via chipTAN, though this requires a physical activation letter sent by the bank. While the transition affects online card payments, in-store purchases, online banking, and transfers will remain unaffected.
