Sparkasse updates digital services with Wero and S-pushTAN

Sparkasse is implementing significant updates to its digital banking and security infrastructure. The European Payments Initiative (EPI) payment service, Wero, is now integrated into the Sparkasse app. Wero enables real-time transfers using only a recipient's mobile number or email address, serving as a European alternative to services like PayPal.

Additionally, Sparkasse is phasing out its S-ID-Check security app in favor of the S-pushTAN app. This transition aims to simplify banking by allowing customers to authorize both transfers and online card payments through a single application. While existing S-ID-Check users can continue using the service for now, new registrations have ceased, and full support for the app is scheduled to end by January 31, 2027. This change affects both credit and certain debit cards used for online shopping.
