Sparta Prague aims to sign midfielder Roman Macek

Roman Macek, a 29‑year‑old Czech midfielder who began his career in the Juventus youth system and later had spells at Arsenal, Manchester United, Lugano and Mladá Boleslav, is the target of Sparta Prague. The club is reportedly close to activating a release clause in Macek’s contract, valued at roughly 15 million Czech crowns, to bolster a midfield lacking creative options.

Sparta’s sporting director Tomáš Rosický confirmed the interest, noting that the team also faces injuries to key midfielders such as Patrik Vydra and Magnus Kofod Andersen. The move would give Sparta a player who once met Cristiano Ronaldo during his time at Juventus and could help address the squad’s shortage of attacking midfielders.

The transfer is being closely watched as Sparta seeks to reinforce its lineup for the upcoming season.
