Jonatan Braut Brunes joins Sparta Prague in record €6 million transfer

Norwegian striker Jonatan Braut Brunes has moved from Polish champions Raków Częstochowa to Czech side Sparta Prague. The transfer fee is reported at about €6 million (roughly 145 million CZK), making it the most expensive signing in Sparta’s history and one of the highest in the Czech league.

Brunes scored 40 goals in 82 matches for Raków over two seasons, helping the club to a league runner‑up finish, a Conference League knockout‑round appearance and a Polish Cup final. He signed a multi‑year contract with Sparta, which also announced the simultaneous acquisition of Norwegian defender Tobias Guddal for a reported €4.5 million.

Erling Haaland, the world‑famous Manchester City forward and Brunes’s cousin, celebrated the move on Instagram, posting childhood photos of the two and writing “We did it.” Sparta’s sporting director Tomáš Rosický praised Brunes’s versatility, describing him as a proven finisher who can score in many ways and adapt to different tactical systems.
